2 Ways Chutney 


Ingredients

For tomato chutney

 • 2 tbsp oil

 • ½ cup chana dal

 • 3 tomato cut into dices

 • 1 tsp Hing

 • 6-7 whole garlic

 • 2-inch ginger

 • 1 cup sliced onion

 • 2 whole red chili

 • 5-6 curry leaves

 • 1 green chili

 • To taste salt

 • 1 tsp turmeric

 • 1 tsp red chili powder

 • 3 tsp tamarind pulp

 • 1 tsp jaggery

 • For onion chutney

 • 4 whole onion

 • 1 tomato cut into dices

 • 1 tbsp oil

 • 1 tsp mustard seed

 • 1 tsp peppercorn

 • 1 tbsp chana dal

 • 1 tsp methi seeds

 • 8-1o curry leaves

 • 2-3 green chili

 • 8-10 garlic

 • 1-inch ginger

 • 2-3 whole red chili

 • To taste salt

 • 2 tsp tamarind pulp

 • 1 tsp jaggery

 • For Tadka

 •  ½ cup chana dal

 • 1 tbsp urad dal

 • 1 tsp mustard seed4-6 round red chili

 • 1 tbsp curry leaves

 

Method

For the tomato chutney

 • Heat oil in a pan

 • Then add chana dal and roast for a min

 • Then add Hing, garlic, ginger, onion, whole red chili, curry leaves, and toss all ingredients

 • Then add tomato dices, green chili, salt, turmeric, red chili powder and cook till tomato become soft with adding little water.

 • Then add tamarind pulp and jaggery allow it to cool and using a grinder make smooth chutney.

 • Then pour the tadka and mix.

For onion chutney

 • Roast the onion till changes color.

 • Next to Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds, peppercorn, chana dal, methi seeds, and roast.

 • Then add curry leaves, green chili, garlic, ginger, whole red chili, and toss it.

 • Add roasted onion, tomato dices, salt, and water, and cook till tomato becomes soft.

 • Then add tamarind pulp and jaggery allow it to cool and make a smooth chutney.  

 • Then pour the tadka and mix.

For Tadka

 • Heat oil in a pan add chana dal, urad dal, mustard seeds, Round red chili, curry leaves allow it to crackle and Tadka pour in chutney.
